| Palm Pre, Touchstone, and Irritation |
[May. 10th, 2009|09:39 pm] |
So I was reading this article about the Palm Pre and it's "wireless" Touchstone charger, and like the annoyances I found with the "innovative design" on my iPod, I got to thinking about how this would effect my everyday life.
Thing is, sure chargers are annoying, and the cables get tangled up, but the truth is, we're not getting rid of a wall plug with this device, we're adding a docking station to it. Now, when I go traveling around the world, I not only need the charger, but I have to pack this "Touchstone" that I have to carry around also. The Touchstone isn't "wireless", it just doesn't have a physical connection of multiple contacts between it and the phone itself. It still has to plug into the wall somehow to draw power. If the dumbasses had just come up with a universal charging interface in the first place (IE USB), we wouldn't need to come up with an overly complicated way for devices to charge. Of course, in the same way, this will never become a standard. If you try to tell the cell phone manufacturers that they couldn't sell an extra power supply with every phone, they would die just imagining that tiny trickle of income disappear.
Plus, just because some vague initial "testing" says that it is "safe", I'm still fairly convinced that dumping mass amounts of electromagnetic waves into the air really can't be good for humans in the long run. |

So, it's 8AM. We've been at the hospital for about 12 hours now. D is sedated on her epideral, and has gone from 1 to 8cm dilated with Pitossin help. But at this point, she doesn't seem to really be dilating any more. Doctor is talking C-Section if there isn't any change in the next few hours. |

So I added this comic to my list of comics. If you enjoy super heroes and villians and appreciate some good punnage to go along with it, this comic is great.

GM, Segway Roll Out Project P.U.M.A.

So, I think they should name this thing the "warthog."
It's a Red Vs Blue joke. If you don't get it, you just didn't watch enough of it back in the day. Honestly, I haven't watched it since they moved to the Halo2 models, but it just made me think of, "it kind of reminds of that animal... you know, a 'PUMA!'" |

| On the Kindle... |
[Mar. 10th, 2009|11:59 am] |
Maybe it's just me, but I just can't come across any situation where I would need 240,000 books at my fingertips. I mean, I really, short of an extremely long plane ride, can't come up with any reason I would need more than what, 3 books honestly.
And truly, that says nothing for how much joy and comfort I get from the feeling and SMELL of a book. The smell of well-aged books is probably one of the most nostalgic smells I will ever have, reminding me of days spent in libraries and used book stores as a kid. It reminds me of some of the happiest days of my lives. So anyways, I totally agree with this response.

So... I think this comic is absolutely hilarious. But I wonder how many people I know will understand both sides of the comic to understand the humor... well here goes.
